Education is a basic human right that leads to transformation of learners through cognitive development and self-discovery. From basic to tertiary education, governments worldwide have put measures to ensure education is accessible to their citizens. It is notable that education is not only a fundamental human right but is a major determinant of the level of personal development and ability to make good decisions required for a healthy nation. By educating its citizens, a country stands a better chance of reducing poverty through improved economic, social, and political status. At a personal level, education enables children to discover, develop and fulfil their potential and capabilities that equip them with competencies that enable them to recognize and pursue employment opportunities, become job creators, develop careers, make good decisions, and play key roles in their countries’ development.

From the above argument, the primary goal of university education is to promote the acquisition of knowledge, skills, and competencies instrumental for national development.

Central to university teaching is quality. Universities cannot achieve the goal of transforming individuals and enable countries achieve development without providing quality education. Such education must be based on key fundamental requirements, namely, quality curriculum, quality teachers, sufficient resources, capable learners, appropriate delivery methods, ethical practices, and conducive environment.

Quality teaching is the hallmark of Daystar University. The University academic mission is to nurture a culture of excellence through Christian based quality innovative teaching and learning, research, and scholarship. This aims at producing graduates able to offer practical world class solutions. Daystar graduates are equipped with 21st Century skills and competencies that uniquely position them to competitively fit in the marketplace and society.
