Antonio
de Saint Exupery’s timeless wisdom rings true: “as for the future, your task is
not only to foresee it, but also to enable it.” This sage advice finds profound
resonance in the intricate tapestry of Daystar University’s operations,
spanning across divisions and departments.
In
August 2023, our Vice Chancellor, Prof. Laban Ayiro, etched the University’s
commitment in stone by signing the Global Performance Contract, signalling the
dawn of the 2023-2024 performance era.
This
era, characterised by four resolute pillars, vows to sculpt an educational
experience of a lifetime: drive students’ experience (D4D),
Amidst
this backdrop of ambition, Daystar University aspires to craft a Legacy of
Light. Guided by the North Star of our strategic plan, deliberate efforts have
been set into motion. These efforts aren’t just about enriching classroom
experiences; they aim to infuse every facet of campus life with wonder.
Key
plans are in place under the Finance Administration and Planning (FAP) Division
to construct the David Musau Mumama Learning complex, a state of the art complex
that will house our prestigious School of Law Programmes and construction of
the second phase of the School of Nursing. This is in response to rising demand
for training opportunities and developing the best Nurses and Clinical Officers
across the vast expanse of Africa and abroad. Additionally, the School of
Mission and Theology, nurturing future servant leaders for the transformation
of the Church and modern society in Africa and beyond is in the pipe line.
These dreams are not distant mirages; they are tangible, solidifying into
reality with every passing day.
The
very environment we inhabit mirrors our solemn duty to stewardship and
cultivation. At Daystar, our commitment to greening our surroundings and
preserving trees stands unyielding, even as the Athi River campus braves a
harsh climate for much of the year. We now stand in the embrace of Phase 5,
with over 10,000 plus new saplings taking root under our care. A borehole
plunges deep into the earth, an offering to satisfy our water demand. Recently,
our parking lot has undergone a transformation, paved with cabro, a testament
to our resolve to nurture the world we live in. These projects are not isolated
endeavours; they are the living continuum of our relentless journey towards
making Daystar the University with a Difference.
As
you graduate today, our prayer for you is that you will be the difference and
create a legacy of light wherever life’s journey takes you. Keep the Daystar
within your hearts shinning. Congratulations class of 2023!
