A New dawn for School of Nursing

Embarking on a journey of a thousand miles always begins with that one pivotal step. It is the kind of step that can shape your destiny, lead you down the path of your true calling, and leave an indelible mark on your life’s narrative. But today, we are not just talking about any ordinary step; we are talking about the extraordinary one taken on January 18th, 2022. It was a day etched in the annals of our institution’s history – the groundbreaking ceremony for the Daystar University School of Nursing complex.

Fast forward to one year and a week, the date being the 26th of January 2023; the day that had us basking in the joyous glow of what that momentous step has brought forth. It is a celebration, a culmination, a realization of dreams that once existed only in the realm of imagination.

So, as we inaugurate the Daystar University School of Nursing complex, let us remember that every great achievement, every monumental undertaking, begins with that one defining step. And today, we take that step together, hand in hand, towards a brighter, healthier, and more compassionate future.

Guests in attendance were numerous, including the Members of the Board of Trustees, The Daystar University Council, Members of the Daystar University Senate, Guests from Daystar U.S., our Vice Chancellor, Professor Laban Ayiro, and the Founder, Prof. Smith, among many more who have been instrumental in supporting Daystar University.

The speeches during the event emphasized the significance of the School of Nursing complex. Dr. Susan Njuguna, the Dean of the School of Nursing, highlighted the history of nursing in Daystar University, from its humble beginnings in 2010 with just a handful of students to over 400 students today. She mentioned the faith and vision that brought the School to its current stature, and the pivotal role played by individuals like the Vice Chancellor, Prof. Laban Ayiro.

Elizabeth Githu, an alumna of class of 2014, emphasized the global reach of Daystar University’s nursing graduates and their commitment to values like respect, empathy, and responsibility. Pro. Laban Ayiro recognized key contributors, including a generous donor, and stressed the importance of education in Kenya’s healthcare system.

The speeches were united by a common theme of faith, with speakers highlighting the role of faith in Daystar University’s journey and the importance of faith in pleasing God.

They also emphasized blessings and encouraged the audience to seek blessings through prayer. The chair recounted personal stories and emphasized the importance of appreciating the medical community’s efforts. The event was concluded by the chief guest, Mrs. Margaret Sirima, who shared her personal connection to Daystar University and praised the institution for its excellent nursing program.

The launch of the Eugster Family School of Nursing Complex in Phase One includes lecture rooms, simulation labs, an accident and emergency department, collaborative rooms, surgical units, a reproductive health room, a medical examination room, and a skills lab. There are also classrooms of varying sizes and designated spaces for faculty to observe and assess students during practical sessions.

In conclusion, the launch of the Daystar School of Nursing Complex is a remarkable achievement that ushers in a new era of nursing education and training. This state- of-the-art facility symbolizes Daystar

University’s steadfast commitment to nurturing the next generation of nursing professionals. More than just a physical structure, it stands as a sanctuary where future nurses will receive not only the essential knowledge and skills but also the values that define their noble profession.
